About Uriah Gladue

I’m a Catholic writer exploring philosophy, theology, and the restless search for meaning.
My work is shaped by my own long journey through doubt, atheism, Protestantism, and finally the Catholic Church. I write to help others think more deeply about God, truth, and the countless ideas that shape our culture.

Where I Come From

I grew up in a small Alberta town — the kind of place where people work hard, keep things simple, and don’t often discuss ideas.
It wasn’t an intellectually focused environment, but it taught me something more important: that ordinary people are capable of extraordinary thinking if someone simply invites them into the conversation.

Even as I drifted between belief and unbelief, that desire to understand never left me.

How I began philosophy

My interest in philosophy began during the political turbulence of 2020.
It became clear that many political questions were really moral or spiritual questions — and that the answers couldn’t be found in slogans or tribalism. They required something deeper.

Reading Plato’s Euthyphro was the turning point.
It pulled me into the world of philosophical reasoning and opened up the larger questions that had always been in the background of my life.

From there, thinkers like Alvin Plantinga and William Lane Craig showed me something I had never heard growing up: Christianity has serious intellectual defenders. Even if I no longer agree with all their conclusions, they were essential stepping-stones to recognizing the depth of the Christian tradition.

Why I Write

My purpose is twofold:

1. To defend the reasonableness of the Christian worldview

2. Aim to offer clarity in a world full of intellectual confusion — to show that reason, faith, and reality itself point toward the God who is Truth.

I’m not here to shout at the world.
I’m here to examine it — patiently, seriously, and with faith in the God who guides all true seekers of truth.

Not with hostility or slogans, but with careful argument, charity, and intellectual honesty.

Who I Write For

My ideal readers are people who:

  • Want to think more seriously
  • Are willing to work through complex ideas
  • Are curious about faith
  • Or simply want an honest perspective on philosophy and culture

I hope readers come away from my work with renewed confidence in Christian theism — or at least a deeper respect for it.

My Style & Goals

I aim to make philosophy readable without watering it down.
I enjoy humor when it fits, but my writing often leans dense because some ideas deserve depth.

My mission is evangelization on the intellectual level — not as an academic, but as someone who believes that truth deserves to be understood, explained, and shared.

A Bit More About Me

Outside of writing, I spend time watching detective shows like Monk, Columbo, and Father Brown.
I also play guitar, write songs, and sing.

Most of my work experience has been in retail and labor-heavy jobs. I studied philosophy at university for two years before going on hiatus. Life may not have followed the traditional academic path — but the pursuit of truth has remained constant.
